Why is Mt Stromlo closed?
Mount Stromlo Observatory is managed by the ANU Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics. The ANU has made the decision to close many of its sites and campuses due to COVID-19, including the Mount Stromlo Observatory and as a result, Mount Stromlo road is closed.

Generally considered a moderately challenging route, it takes an average of 3 h 3 min to complete. This is a popular trail for hiking, mountain biking, and trail running, but you can still enjoy some solitude during quieter times of day.

Can you self shuttle stromlo?
Self-shuttles can be run up Mt Stromlo Rd from the “Bush Fire Memorial” car park. Competitors are reminded that this is utilising a public road and all road rules are to be obeyed. Any reports from the Police or Public regarding unsafe or illegal behavior will result in exclusion from the event.
