One of the prides of Rosemont sadly met its end with a bombshell announcement from the National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) league Sunday, Aug. 1. After cancelling the 2020 and 2021 seasons, the league officially announced it is suspending operations effective immediately.
Who are the Chicago Bandits?
The Chicago Bandits, who played fastpitch softball at Parkway Bank Sports Complex in Rosemont, were founded in 2004 and played their first season in 2005, producing a 41-7 record. The Bandits also won regular season championships in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2013 and 2019.

The Stadium at the Parkway Bank Sports Complex is the 2,000-seat home of the Chicago Bandits, 2008, 2011 2015 & 2016 NPF World Champion women’s softball organization. The stadium is the first facility of its kind in the nation built expressly for women’s professional sports.

Our home base is just outside of Indianapolis, Indiana, but we have players from Kentucky, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Illinois and Indiana on our current roster.

What is tag up softball?
Tagging up occurs in softball when a runner or runners on base advance to the next base on a ball hit in the air, often to the outfield, with less than two outs. The runner must be in contact with the base they started at and wait until the ball is caught, before advancing to the next base.

What is a strike in softball?
