Are guppies the same as Endlers?
According to Stan Shubel, the author of Aquarium Care for Fancy Guppies, the Endler guppy is, in fact, not a separate species; claiming it has the same genetic makeup as the common guppy, yet is given its own name, Poecilia wingei, for conservation purposes.
Do Endlers need lids?
The most important things you’ll need are a suitable filtration system and a secure lid. The filtration system doesn’t have to be super powerful, as these fish don’t produce a ton of waste. But, it should cycle the tank efficiently to keep ammonia and nitrates low.
Can Endlers live in a bowl?
Now a very important thing is the actual size of the fishbowl that you want to keep the endlers in. They certainly are fascinating and beautiful fish and do not need much maintenance. If you have a 1-gallon or a 2-gallon tank, then 3 or 4 endlers together would do fine.
How can you tell an Endler guppy?
Fin size and length is another difference between Endlers and guppies. Guppies often have large flowing fins while Endlers usually have much smaller fins. Long flowing fins in Endlers are a good indicator that the Endler has been hybridized with a guppy. Endlers often have a small sword on their caudal (tail) fin.
Do Endlers need to be in groups?
Endler guppies are not schooling fish and as such do not need to be kept in groups. An Endeler will be perfectly happy living alone or in an aquarium with other ‘community’ fish. Ideally, Endlers should NOT be kept in a pair as the male will constantly harass the female.
Do Endlers and guppies get along?
Endlers and guppies can live together, as they are very similar in many ways, and have similar water requirements.
Do Endlers like current?
Endlers are also great in a single-species tank because of their constant curiosity and endlessly active nature. Water current: Endlers should not be subjected to strong water currents. Increase pH & water hardness: Livebearers prefer higher PH & harder water.
