The 10th Earl of Glasgow, Patrick Boyle, and his family still reside at the castle. It was Lord Glasgow’s decision to open the estate to the public in 1977, transforming the grounds and outhouses into play areas, a café, gift shop, etc, and also allowing access to the castle for tours!

Kelburn Castle and Estate, near Fairlie in North Ayrshire, has been owned by the Boyle family since 1140. The present owner, Patrick Boyle, the 10th Earl of Glasgow, opened up the castle along with its grounds and gardens to the public in 1977.

How comfortable are the yurts at Kelburn?
The yurts are comfortable and a really good price for glamping. The new bothy is very well kitted out and a great place to cook and eat a meal. The included access to Kelburn Castle and Estate was great and the kids and their cousins enjoyed their visit. Will definitely go back and stay again.
