Do PSAT scores correlate with SAT scores?
The PSAT is scored between 320 and 1520, while the SAT is scored from 400 to 1600. PSAT scores correspond directly to SAT scores, so a 1250 on the PSAT equals a 1250 on the SAT. But because the SAT is more challenging, a perfect score on the PSAT does not equal a perfect score on the SAT.
Why is the PSAT out of 1520 and the SAT out of 1600?
The College Board caps these students at 1520 because they don’t know if these students would answer the highest difficulty level questions correctly or not. So to recap, the PSAT and SAT are on the same scale for all scores… students just can’t score higher than 1520.
Is the PSAT scored out of 1520?
The total PSAT scoring scale is 320-1520 in 10-point increments. Like the SAT, the PSAT has three major sections: Math, Reading, and Writing and Language (hereafter Writing).
