Can oral herpes look like a canker sore?
After a new HSV infection, children under age 5 may have cold sores inside of their mouth that can sometimes be mistaken for canker sores.
How do I know if I have herpes on my tongue?
Symptoms
- You’ll notice redness, swelling, itchiness, or pain in a specific area of your tongue. This is likely where the sore will appear.
- On the tongue, you may see a white substance that turns into yellowish ulcers.
