How do I set up a kickdown on TH400?
Slide the kickdown cable end stop onto the inner wire. Move the throttle to wide open and hold it there while pulling the kickdown inner wire as tight as possible. Slide the cable end stop up against the kickdown throttle body fitting and tighten the set screw using the supplied 5/64″ Allen wrench.
Does a TH400 transmission have a kickdown cable?
Instead of a linkage or cable, the TH400 uses an electrical switch that is most often mounted on the carburetor. The 12-volt connection is a single spade connector just above the oil pan rail on the driver’s side about halfway back–at least that’s where it is on my TH400.
What does a transmission kickdown switch do?
Kickdown can be used when maximum acceleration is needed, e.g. when passing. When the accelerator pedal is depressed all the way to the floor (past the normal full accelerator position), the transmission will automatically engage kickdown, i.e. immediately shift down to a lower gear.
Will a TH400 shift without vacuum?
Under wide open throttle there is no vacuum and the governor will then take over the shifting duties. Depending on what rpm you want the trans to shift at, you can buy governors that will shift the trans in Automatic at lets say 6,500rpm (W.O.T.) without moving the shifter.
Does a th400 have a TV cable?
Registered. vacuum or hydraulic modulation,no tv cable… there should be a device that looks like an oil pressure sender mounted on the passenger side of the trans right where you’d normally expect a tv cable to be…it has a small bolt sticking out of it.at least it did on mine.
What does TH400 vacuum modulator do?
The vacuum modulator is a vital component of automatic transmissions. It tells the transmission what kind of load is being put on it, allowing the transmission to react with the proper line pressures and shift points.
