What age is the Lightning Thief book appropriate for?
Common Sense Media (my go-to spot for judging what media is appropriate for what age of kids) rates the Percy Jackson books as for kids aged 9–10. I’d probably pull that down a year to ages 8–9, but either way much is lost in reading those books if you don’t know the myths they are referencing.
Is the Lightning Thief middle grade?
The other reason The Lightning Thief continues to capture the hearts of readers everywhere, is the pure hilarity of Riordan’s writing. His time as a middle grade teacher clearly shines through with the abundant humor bursting throughout the entire book.
Can a 16 year old read Percy Jackson?
You really can’t be too old. There were a handful of bits I thought were a little bit dumb, but they were few and far between. I really liked it overall, and the ending was good as well.
What grade is Percy Jackson in?
We know that The Lost Hero takes place in December of the same year, so he’s 16 and in grade 10 (and kidnapped). By The Blood of Olympus, he is about to turn 17 (or has turned 17) and has missed all of grade 10. But somehow in The Hidden Oracle he is 17 and a Senior, apparently having missed all of Junior year.
What age group is Magnus chase for?
Definitely appropriate for 10 and up.
Is Percy Jackson 9th grade?
In The Battle of the Labyrinth he went to the grade 9 orientation (where he met Rachel again) and The Last Olympian takes place a year after that, so he was obviously in grade 8 in The Titan’s Curse and before the events in The Battle of the Labyrinth.
Is Percy Jackson inappropriate?
The book does have violence and if you’re not comfortable with your kids learning about Greek mythology then then this isn’t the series for you. My son has always preferred non-fiction and I’ve wanted him to find a book that made him see the adventure a good story can take you on.
