Supplies:
- Heat press machine (or iron if you don’t have one yet)
- A cutting machine (like a Cricut or Silhouette, only needed if using heat transfer vinyl)
- Fabric or material you want to press (t-shirts work great)

Inkjet heat transfer paper is simple in the sense that it comes in either light or dark paper. On the other hand, laser transfer paper is further divided into single or full color and white toner papers.

How long should you heat press a shirt?
Depending on your machine, the type of transfer, and the blank this can be anywhere from 45 seconds to 3 minutes. If you’re using a direct to garment printer this will change depending on ink and fabric. Open the press. Then, set your t-shirt down on the side you’re placing the design on facing up.
Do I need Teflon sheet for heat press?
Before pressing down on the garment, you would need to lay a heat resistant non-stick sheet on it to protect the foil design. As the heat press lifts off the garment, creating a vacuum. Without a teflon sheet, foil will respond to airflow since foil is light and the foil adhesive is hot and still pliable.
What does P mean on heat press?
