On Monday, Sunil Jadhav alias Ekya, a Ashwin Naik gang hitman, was shot dead in an encounter at Charkop in Kandivli by senior inspector Pradeep Sharma and his team. Ekya had been convicted of murdering Neeta Naik, wife of gangster Ashwin Naik, and lodged at the Arthur Road jail.
Why was Neeta Naik killed?
According to the prosecution, Naik suspected that Neeta was having an affair with her bodyguard and conspired to kill her. Police said he planned and ordered the hit, while he was in prison. Five people were arrested in the case, but two were acquitted earlier.
