Why is my upstream power so high?
As with all modulation signals, the upstream power level tends to fluctuate depending on various influences including temperature and signal interference. If the problem is on your end, it may be due to poor cabling, bad connections or a faulty splitter.
How do I fix high upstream power level?
To reduce your upstream power, remove splitters that are between the modem and ground block. If you have other devices, this will not be possible. You have a bad fitting. Likely at the tap.
What should my upstream power level be?
Upstream power level limits depend on the number of upstream channels locked. For some networks, the power limits for 3 to 4 channels are 35 to 51 dBmV. Ideal levels are approximately 40 to 50 dBmV for single channels, 37 to 48 dBmV each for 2 to 4 channels.
Is the SB6121 obsolete?
The SB6121 is being phased out and replaced by the SB6141.
Can cable signal be too strong for modem?
Many modems are even rated to +/- 15 dBmV. Too low means your signal is weak, and too high means the signal is strong – possibly too strong (and will need to be corrected with an attenuator or splitter). Upstream power levels should be between 40 – 50 dBmV.
What causes upstream noise?
Usually this is caused by bad shielding, R59 cabling, or bad connectors/wall plates. It’s not easy to determine the location of interference. Upstream interference means that the head end is getting a lot of noise around the frequency that your cable modem broadcasts at (15 to 50Mhz).
What is upstream symbol rate?
Per the DOCSIS 1.0 and 1.1 specification, the allowable symbol rates for upstream data transmission are 160, 320, 640, 1,280 and 2,560 ksym/sec. Additionally, the specification defines that the cable modem shall use a root raised cosine shaping filter with an =o.25 or 25%.
Can cable signal too strong?
Too much signal can definately cause tilling and distortion. Most T.V’s probably will not be affected by this if the cable is going directly to the T.V set, but I’ve seen many Sony sets that start acting up when the signal is too strong.
How fast is Motorola SB6121?
172 Mbps
The SB6121 delivers your complete personal media experience, at incredible broadband speeds. It harnesses the power of DOCSIS 3.0 technology to bond up to four downstream channels and four upstream channels— providing you advanced multimedia services with download speeds up to 172 Mbps in each direction.
